DESCRIPTION:
In the fictional world of Shadowrun, technology and magic get along well. Imagine, for example, Arcanum: Steamworks & Magick Obscura, but only in the future. Elements of “high fantasy” appeared in the usual cyberpunk setting, ranging from arrogant elves to wise dragons. With a slight stylistic correction - the elves wear Iroquois and gas masks, and the dragon may well control the activities of the state. Two forces, magic and technology, of course, are opposed to each other. A striking contrast: a faded dystopic future, where only neon signs play with bright colors, is painted with bright, uncontrolled magic. It’s easiest to compare this cyberpunk universe with Blade Runner: gloomy alleys, dazzling lights of colorful lamps and magical sparks. According to Shadowrun, in 2011 incredible things began to happen on Earth. The horsemen of the Apocalypse walked the earth, plunged the world into panic and decline, after which miracles began to work everywhere. For some reason, the tribes of the North American Aborigines discovered mystical abilities and learned to invoke spirits, unexpectedly new races appeared, and magic entered the ordinary reality; religious denominations, by the way, initially staged persecution of sorcerers. Technological research has led people to create a single neural interface - the Matrix. Scientific developments have allowed the creation of synthetic bodies and augmentations. Of course, it was not without stereotypical global corporations. They spread their influence throughout the globe and occasionally hire warlocks for industrial espionage. The full-time operatives are all called Mr. Johnson and are consumables. Orc hackers are hacking state systems - in vain, by the way: not just any person there may be at the head of the country, but a real dragon.
